This route gets every gravel-lover's heart beating faster, offering beautiful scenery and exciting roads. The first part of this route requires some stamina. Once you reach the peak point at Halsegg (1325m), it's a long descent into the valley, so most of the effort has to be put upfront.
We start in the centre of Unterägeri, winding up on an asphalt road for a short while before entering the forest. As we gain elevation, the view reveals itself towards the Aegeri Valley and the lake.
The surface alternates between asphalt and gravel, and the landscape is varied, too: we start in the flat on open meadows and then ride through dense forest. This then changes to an open forest and later to the Halsegg with fields, cows grazing and a picturesque alpine landscape.
Before reaching the top, we must climb over two hairpins on grass-covered roads. Our efforts are awarded a breathtaking view across Sattel, Mytehn and the Alps. (This part can only be ridden in dry conditions and most likely require hiking, an alternative route avoiding this part can be found here)
From Halsegg, we descend to the northern side of the mountain. Follow the gravel road on the side of the hill towards Zuger Alpli. At Zuger Alpli, you can take a break and refresh. Carry on riding towards Schönalphüttli. From there, you can gently follow the main road back to Aegeri.
