Discover the delightful Ägeri Lake and immerse yourself in a slice of Swiss history!
This nearly flat route is perfect for young riders, winding along the shores of Ägeri See. And for those interested, there's a fascinating history lesson waiting to be explored!
The adventure begins on the quiet back streets of Unterägeri, following a flat, gravel path that hugs the lake’s shoreline all the way to Morgarten. Along the way, you’ll pass charming farms with self-service shops, scenic picnic spots, and campgrounds perfect for a swim on hot days.
Eventually, you’ll reach the Morgarten Monument. While the monument itself, inaugurated in 1908, might not be to everyone's taste, the magnificent view from here is worth the visit. It's a great spot to take a break and enjoy a snack. Learn more about the history of Morgarten here.
Consider having lunch at Hotel Morgarten, known for its excellent ice cream selection! If you prefer a picnic, there are plenty of lovely spots along the way.
For your return journey, you have a few options. You can retrace your steps back to Unterägeri, or continue riding around the entire Ägeri Lake along the main road. You might also want to check if the boat from Morgarten to Unterägeri is running for a unique perspective of the valley from the water. The boat operates two to three times daily until mid-October and resumes in the warmer months. You can find more information here.
No matter how you choose to return to Unterägeri, if the kids still have energy to burn, reward them with a visit to the lakeside playground
This scenic route promises a fun and engaging day out for the whole family, blending the joy of cycling with the natural beauty and history of the Ägeri Lake area.
